Yamaha Solid Top Acoustic Guitars with Ryan-style armrest bevel

Sold Out!

Over the years Yamaha has perfected the entry-level solid-topped drednought. Read any review for the FG700S, the FD01S, FG403S, etc. and you'll find that these guitars consistently have the build quality and tone of guitars costing many times more. No matter the model #, these are all solid spruce topped, drednought size with mahogany or nato backs and sides, die cast tuners, 25.4" scale, rosewood fretboard and bridge, and a gloss finish. The width of the neck at the nut is 1-11/16" and string spacing at the saddle is 2-1/4". These guitars are great for strumming and the narrow neck width makes them more easily accessible to the electric guitar player.

One of the great things about having a shop near a major university is having access to a lot of students who are just realizing that they do not want to learn to play guitar. We put our shipping specialist to work during down times trawling Craigslist for good quality entry-level solid topped guitars, especially these Yamahas. Fortunately he's been able to find several local students who have realized that instead of the nice guitar they got for Christmas which they never learned to play, they could have a few cases of beer or that $100 textbook they need for Psych 101. We've given a handful of these the Shabby Chic treatment and are offering them here for a mere song.

For this run of instruments, our luthier hand carved a very comfortable armrest bevel in the style of famed builder Kevin Ryan. Next after a thorough cleaning, he gave each instrument a new set of D'Addario EJ16 light-gauge strings and a pro setup: nut slots are filed down to a comfortable level, the truss rod is adjusted to dial in just the right amount of neck relief, the frets are lightly dressed to take out any high spots, and finally the saddle is lowered to give great low action with no buzzing. The result is an incredibly comfortable playing guitar at a ridiculous price, delivering again on the Shabby Chic promise of superior tone, playability, and comfort for a fraction of the price of other guitars. These guitars sell new for $200-300, but these come in excellent condition with a pro setup and armrest bevel for a mere $180.

All Shabby Chic guitars come with a 7 day approval period. If you don't like it, simply send it back and we will refund your purchase price (you pay shipping). Hardshell case not included, but can be added for an extra $60. Shipping is $30 to the continental US, $55 for our Canadian friendly friends.
